Agnes C. Soom, 87 of Uniontown, Pa., passed away on Sunday January 31, 2016.

She was born on February 3, 1928 in Palmer, Pa., a daughter of John and Mary Jupina.

Agnes was preceded in death by her parents, husband Joseph M. Soom Sr., and a son Mark A. Soom, her brothers, Steve Jupina, John Jupina, Joe Jupina, and her sisters, Anna Bailes, Mary Coleman, Helen Drosdick and Betty Altomonte.

Starting in 2003 Agnes moved into Meadow Heights and quickly began transforming the simple housing facility into a place of joy and enrichment for the many residents.

Agnes enjoyed using her computer and her natural artistic abilities to make greeting cards for all occasions for anyone that wanted one. Soon she began writing and printing out a quarterly newsletter to keep the Meadow Heights residents informed and entertained. With the success of her cards and newsletter, Agnes was made activities director. She would help coordinate everything from health screenings to bingo nights and banquets. She also had been known to throw wild birthday celebrations for her favorite man, Englebert Humperdink. Her walls were covered with his pictures and at any given time, Eng's music could be heard streaming from her apartment.

Whether greeting guests at the door or meeting with her many friends, Agnes smile and positive attitude always kept her zipping down the halls in her motorized wheelchair. Everyone knew Agnes. She changed many minds about how to grow old without BEING OLD.

Her family affectionately referred to her as The Queen of Meadow Heights. The Queen has passed. Agnes left us these words, "Life is Beautiful! Enjoy It!" She will surely be missed by all that were lucky enough to meet her!

Left to cherish her memory are her children Joella Black and her husband Robert, Tim Soom and his wife Sally, Joseph "Jody" Soom and his wife Barb, grandchildren Robert Black Jr., Shawn Black and his wife Liz, Chris Black, Tara Keller and her husband Rodney, Tim Soom Jr., Tony Soom and his wife April, Jessie Showman and her husband Bob, Joshua Soom and his wife Gnea, Jodi Soom, Joseph Soom III., Mike Susa and his wife Jen, Thomas Little and his wife Shawna, Anthony Little and his wife Nikki, Jami Williams, Mark Seiler, great grandchildren, Sierra, Rachel, Tori, Skeyela, Sarah, Sammy, Tidah, Blake, Eli, Hannah, Luke, Jordyn and Tommy. She is also survived by her sister Marge Spase.

Friends will be received in the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 603 N. Gallatin Ave., Ext., Uniontown, PA, on Tuesday February 2, 2016 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m., and on Wednesday 3, 2016 until 11 a.m. the hour of service with pastor Bryan Kelley officiating.

Interment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown, PA.
